Venus Stone paving products are tested to determine slip rating of their surface, the method used is called Pendulum Testing and is the British standard method of measuring slip resistance. Each surface when tested receives a ‘Slip Potential Rating’ of either:
High (Slip Potential)
Moderate (Slip Potential)
Low (Slip Potential)
How does Pendulum Testing Work?
When a heel strikes a wet floor a fluid film is formed between them, this is how slips are caused. The Pendulum Test works in wet conditions as it generates a similar fluid film between the slider and the floor. This means it can be used to accurately test the slip potential on both clean and dry, or wet floors.
